Two new Persian rugs
Today we received two new beautiful Persian rugs, one 8x10, and another 8x11 Tabriz design. Both rugs are fine, handmade, 100% wool rugs that have been directly imported in order to provide the best possible combination of price and quality. The first rug has a dark border with a red interior and an all-over floral design. The second rug has a red and khaki color combination with a central medallion design.

Rug Hanging
Occasionally, customers come to Main Street Rugs looking for a way to hang their rugs on the wall. To reassure you, our process does not harm the rug in any way and will not appear on the front end of the rug. To hang a rug, We sow a sleeve on to the back of the rug, thus creating an area where a pole can be attached to the rug. Using this technique, Main Street Oriental Rugs has been able to successfully hang many rugs for its loving customers. Please come by our store at 8290 Main Street, Ellicott City or visit us online at www.msorientalrugs.com.

The tradition
of Afghan war rugs began at the beginning of Soviet occupation of Afghanistan
in 1979. These unique rugs, which are
characterized by the depiction of AK 47’s and other weaponry, make up one of
the largest war art industries in the world.
Main Street Oriental Rugs has recently
unveiled such a rug and asks that you come see it. This distinctive rug has a red patterned
border with a white background. In the
foreground there are tanks and other weaponry, with a central map of
Afghanistan. At the top of the rug, the
letters U-S-S-R can be seen, which dates this rug back to the Soviet War in
Afghanistan. It is unfortunate that the rug
industry began to use war in its art, and we would like to see it shift to a
more pacifistic illustration of the world’s culture. We would like to see the rug industry depicting the unity of mankind and diversity of cultures.
