Serapi rugs originated in the town of Sarab in the Heriz area of Iran during the late 1800's. These rugs soon gained enormous popularity and have become on of the most sought-after carpets on the East Coast. It especially well known for its double-outlining style, which utilizes a double border to add more emphasis on the centerpiece. Serapi rugs are known to have vivid colors ranging from deep blues to bright oranges and often have medallion designs with angular geometric patterns.
