Repair and Cleaning of Antique Persian Kashan

An Antique Persian Kashan recently came to Main Street Oriental Rugs for cleaning and repair.  The owner's family had brought this rug to the United States in the 1920's.  A large rug, 12ft 5in by 8ft 9in, it has seven borders and an allover pattern with large motifs.  This rug has over 20 jewel tone colors using both organic and man-made dyes.  It is approximately 90 years old, and it is a very rare piece.  This rug came to us with extensive pet stains, a large hole, and a border that looked as if it had been chewed.  Main Street Oriental Rugs has just finished the work on it, which included multiple washes, binding the border, and repairing the hole.  To finish the work it took three months.
